Description of MS M.72 fol. 76r

Psalm 052 (Vulg., 051).
Apostle, Bartholomew: Martyrdom -- Bartholomew, decorated nimbus, tonsured, nude, lies on board on trestles. Three executioners, holding knives, flay Bartholomew. One executioner kneels in front of board, flays left arm. The second executioner, behind board, flays right leg. The third executioner flays right arm.
Scene set in gold background within decorated initial Q, partly formed by dragon with tail ending in foliate motif.
Left border contains letters D, D, P written in gold. Each letter is initial beginning a verse.
SC BARTHOLOMEUS is written in gold letters in lower border of decorated frame.
