Description of MS M.597 fol. 1v
Virgin Mary: Annunciation -- Virgin Mary, inscribed "the holy Virgin Mary" (Coptic), decorated nimbus, veiled, seated on cushioned throne with footstool, holding distaff and spindle, approached by Archangel Gabriel, inscribed "Gabriel bringing glad tidings" (Coptic), nimbed, holding flowering branch and foliate staff; inscription from Luke 1:28; border of foliate ornament.
