Description of MS M.1001 fol. 80r

Miniature:
Pentecost -- Dove of Holy Ghost, nimbed, amid rays of light, appears within window of room above disciples and Virgin Mary, scalloped nimbus, veiled, seated on throne with open book in lap. Evangelist John, nimbed, kneels before Virgin Mary and places right hand on her lap. Another apostle, nimbed, holding book under right arm, raising joined hands, is seated on floor beside her. Room is furnished with draped altar.
Miniature and text framed by historiated border containing the following figures and scenes:
Left border:
Angel, nimbed, appears in upper left corner above Pentecost scene.
Lower border:
Christ: on Road to Emmaus -- Christ, cross-nimbed, as pilgrim with staff and pilgrim's purse, approaches two disciples, wearing pilgrim's hats and carrying staves over left shoulders, advancing toward castle.
Christ: Ascension -- Christ, only feet visible, ascends into clouds above apostles, nimbed, glancing upwards.
