Description of MS H.8 fol. 26r

Miniature:
Christ: Bewailing (Lamentation) -- Virgin Mary, wearing wimple, holds deceased Christ, wounds bleeding, in her lap. She is flanked by Evangelist John, nimbed, holding head of Christ in both hands, and by Mary Magdalen, hands clasped at breast.
In background, on Golgotha, are three crosses. Two thieves still hang from crosses. Ladder leans against middle cross.

Below miniature, historiated border frames text.
Christ: Deposition -- Evangelist John, nimbed, hands clasped at breast, Virgin Mary, nimbed, veiled, and Mary Magdalen, nimbed, are seated on ground beside Cross. Joseph of Arimathea, on ladder, and Nicodemus lower from cross body of Christ, rayed cross as nimbus, wearing crown of thorns and short loincloth.
