Description of MS G.55 fol. 19r

Evangelist, John: Scene, Devil stealing Inkpot -- On shore of Patmos, devil spills (?) ink from inkpot hung around neck of eagle. Evangelist John, holding quill in right hand, is seated at right with open book on lap. Virgin Mary, with joined (?) hands, appears in mandorla, above city in background.
Margins decorated with foliate and floreate ornament, including thistle and strawberry. In lower margin, monogram of initials A and P linked by love knot. Text, Gospel Sequence.
