David: communicating with God -- David, crowned, wearing vair-lined mantle, kneels with left hand pointing to his mouth, and looks up toward head of Christ-Logos in cloud. Psalm 039, verse 6 (Vulg., 038, verse 7). Bestial devil swoops down and grabs in chest some of coins pushed into purse held by man, possibly usurer, or Personification of Avarice, wearing hat, seated beside the chest. Figures against gold punched diapered backgrounds, within double arcade of pointed trefoil arches with sexfoil oculus in spandrels, all within initial D decorated with foliage. Devil descends toward bald male fool, partly nude, wearing mantle, raising with right hand round loaf to mouth and holding in left hand bauble surmounted by hooded human head. Psalm 053, verse 2(Vulg., 052, verse 2). Head of Christ-Logos, cross-nimbed, appears in cloud above David, crowned, kneeling with joined hands, and male falconer, wearing gloves, standing, raising right forefinger toward the Lord and holding falcon on his left wrist. Figures against diapered background decorated with fleurs-de-lis, within initial D decorated with foliage. Marginal extensions of foliage and gold balls.

Man, wearing hat, plays harp, beside David, crowned, seated with legs crossed on bench, with two hammers striking one of five bells, each hung from niche of architectural frames. In lower half of initial E: Psalm 081, verse 9 (Vulg., 080, verse 10). Moses: Golden Calf -- Woman plays viol, and two men, one wearing hat, and the other hooded, both blow horns, all before calf on draped altar (Idolatry). Scenes and figures, against gold punched diapered background, all within initial E decorated with foliage. In left margin, foliate extension with terminals of dragon and hybrid man with head draped.

In upper half of initial C: 1) Christ: Nativity -- Virgin Mary, veiled, reclines with right hand supporting her head on pillow and draped mattress, before ass and ox (only heads visible) behind Christ Child, cross-nimbed, swaddled, with His head turned toward the Virgin, lying in architectural crib from which three lamps are suspended. Joseph the Carpenter, hooded, holds staff and sits on bench at foot of the bed. In lower half of initial C: 2) Shepherds: Annunciation -- Nimbed angel, with scroll inscribed ET IN TERR[A] from Luke 2:14, descends from cloud toward two shepherds wearing hooded garments; one stands with pedum in right hand and left hand raised, and looks up at the angel, and the other, holding bagpipe in left hand and raising right hand, sits on ground. They are accompanied by three sheep, two reclining, and dog seated next to one of two trees. To right, David, crowned, kneels with joined hands raised, looking up at the angel. Scenes, against gold punched diapered background, mainly within initial C. In left margin above and below the initial C, foliate extensions with terminals of wingless angel (?) holding scroll inscribed GLORIA IN EX[CELSIS] from Luke 2:14, and below hybrid cleric wearing vestments, holding open book in left hand, raising right forefinger, and looking toward the shepherds.
