Page View	MS G.55 fol. iii v Virgin Mary: Annunciation -- Archangel Gabriel, raising right hand and holding staff in left hand, kneels behind Virgin Mary, nimbed, with hands joined, kneeling at prie-dieu, looking back over right shoulder at Gabriel. Above is dove of Holy Ghost in mandorla. Winged figure, possibly angel, holding snake, is carved on side of prie-dieu. Scene in wood-paneled, windowed room with canopied bed, and with vase of flowers in foreground on ledge. Miniature within elaborate architectural frame, decorated at top with head and wings of angel and with mask at bottom. Inscription in lower margin, ALPHA.

He is flanked by Longinus and Longinus piercing His side with spear, and by Virgin Mary, nimbed and veiled, with hands joined, supported by Evangelist John, nimbed, his right hand on her right shoulder, and his left at her left side. Holy woman, wearing headdress, kneels at foot of cross, orant. Scene in landscape with city in background. Miniature surrounded by architectural frame, decorated at top and bottom with putti holding shields. Inscription in lower margin OMEGA.

Month, Occupation: January -- In vignette in lower margin, man wearing hood and hat, holding right hand to lips, is seated with his back to fire, on bench, at draped table on which is covered vessel, loaf (?), and knives (?). Vignette is flanked by two heraldric shields, one of Knights of Rhodes (gules, a cross argent) and the other, incorporating Knights of Rhodes (quarterly, 1 and 4 gules, a cross argent, 2 and 3 argent, a chief dancettee gules). Margins decorated with foliate and floreate ornament, including strawberry, inhabited by rabbit.
